Fact: Earlier, it was believed that the caffeine present in coffee can adversely affect the health of pregnant women, and also lead to miscarriage and low birth weight. However, research has proven otherwise. Sticking to just one cup of coffee a day, is considered safe for pregnant and lactating women. But remember, too much coffee can be harmful.
Macchiato: A macchiato is nothing but a stronger version of a latte. All you have to do is increase the quantity of the espresso in the milk.
This is the most common and widely known effect of caffeine in pregnancy. Even women who are trying to conceive are discouraged from drinking caffeine for the fear of a very early miscarriage. A very early miscarriage is often likely to go unnoticed. Thus a woman may think she is failing to conceive even though there was an onset of pregnancy.
Just like the normal coffee, excessive intake of decaf is also known to cause certain health problems. The fact that decaf contains caffeine in smaller amounts does make it a safer alternative when compared to regular coffee, but since caffeine has not been removed completely, it is a choice you need to make.
