Resolutions have the liberty to be random. One such resolution is centripetal to consuming coffee, especially when the decaf version is on a roll! Retail espresso vendors have chalked a pattern, where the demand for decaffeinated coffee climbs the ladder, particularly in the month of January. Why? It's a resolution on New Year's Eve (We don't know if it ends there!).
Indirect Method: Indirect method also uses methylene chloride or ethyl acetate for decaffeination of the coffee beans. The process is called indirect decaffeinated coffee process, since, the coffee beans do not come in direct contact with the chemical solvent. Initially, the coffee beans are soaked in hot water for many hours. This makes the coffee beans lose flavor and caffeine molecules into the water. Then the coffee beans are separated from the water and this water is transferred to another container. The concentrated water is then mixed with solvents like methylene chloride or ethyl acetate. The caffeine molecules get combined with the solvent molecules. Then the water is heated at a temperature, where the solvent evaporates along with dissolved caffeine in it. Thus, the water left contains flavor molecules of the coffee beans, and is free of solvent and caffeine. Coffee beans are then again added to this water to absorb the flavor.
Most of us simply can't start our day without a cup of coffee in the morning. The stimulant effect of coffee is due to caffeine, which is an alkaloid which is found in seeds, fruit or leaves of certain plants. Since the absorption of caffeine takes place at a very fast rate, one can feel the effect in minutes. However, excessive consumption of this beverage can cause certain adverse effects on the body. One may even become addicted. No wonder, women cut down on their intake of coffee or refrain from drinking this beverage when they are pregnant.
Whenever you are out and you can't decide on a place, you just settle on a coffee shop every single time. It's as if you sleepwalk to the aroma and love of coffee. You frequent most coffee joints in town, and the staff everywhere already know your order. Your regular coffee shop has become your second home. And if any of your friends wants you to accompany them anywhere, they know what to do!
