There are many benefits of organic coffee. As far as the health benefits are concerned, organic coffee is more beneficial than regular coffee. Many of the chemicals injected in the body through food are carcinogenic. They can damage the nervous system, cause hormonal abnormalities and affect development of babies in case of pregnant women. In defense of regular coffee, some of the harmful synthetic chemicals are lost in the roasting process, but those which are taken up by the roots stay in the coffee beans.
☞ Fair trade organizations also collaborate farmers with non profit certifiers, that mediate to create healthy and lasting communication and partnerships. They focus on providing many essentials in terms of education of the farmers for a better yield, new techniques of farming, and certain safety guidelines too.
Indirect Method: Indirect method also uses methylene chloride or ethyl acetate for decaffeination of the coffee beans. The process is called indirect decaffeinated coffee process, since, the coffee beans do not come in direct contact with the chemical solvent. Initially, the coffee beans are soaked in hot water for many hours. This makes the coffee beans lose flavor and caffeine molecules into the water. Then the coffee beans are separated from the water and this water is transferred to another container. The concentrated water is then mixed with solvents like methylene chloride or ethyl acetate. The caffeine molecules get combined with the solvent molecules. Then the water is heated at a temperature, where the solvent evaporates along with dissolved caffeine in it. Thus, the water left contains flavor molecules of the coffee beans, and is free of solvent and caffeine. Coffee beans are then again added to this water to absorb the flavor.
Maintaining appropriate water temperature between 195 to 205 degrees Fahrenheit, is required for optimal extraction of coffee. If the water is colder, then you will have flat under-extracted coffee. On the other hand, if the water is too hot, then it will result in flavor loss. While brewing coffee without a coffee machine, make sure you let the water come to a full boil, but this does not mean you allow the water to continue boiling. Once the water has come to a boil, turn off the heat and let the water rest for a minute, before you add coffee powder to it.
