There are two genus of cardamom, namely Elettaria and Amomum. Elettaria cardamom, commonly known as green cardamom, has a strong and unique taste with an aromatic fragrance, and is commonly used for spicing different recipes as well as sweets and drinks. Amomum cardamom, commonly known as black cardamom, has a strong, camphor-like flavor and smoky appearance due to the way it is dried. It is also used as a spice in different recipes, but not as a flavoring agent in sweets and drinks. Brewing tea or coffee with the green variant enhances the beverage's taste.

As French roast coffee is a dark roast, it can be described to have a slight hint of burnt sugar with a distinct roasted character. Its flavor can also be said to be bittersweet. This acidity in the coffee is reduced significantly due to the process of roasting.

And buying coffee with the fair trade label is that small, but most valued effort to the benefit of these farmers.
