Most of us can't function without a cup of hot coffee in the morning. This is because, our system is so used to caffeine that we just can't function without it. Some of us prefer to have this beverage in the evening or after our meal, in the form of a dessert. Enlisted below are some different variants of beverages and delicious desserts that you can prepare at home.
Are you one of the many who begin the day with a coffee, have coffee for breakfast, have 6-7 cups of coffee while working throughout the day, and have another cup while watching a game of sport at the end of the day? Well, you are almost addicted to coffee! You might argue that you do not get the morning kick if you don't have your usual Joe, and having coffee while working keeps you from falling asleep. Whatever the reasons, coffee or caffeine addiction is as worse as alcohol or cigarette addiction. Apart from coffee, soft drinks and sodas also contain caffeine which is bad for health, if consumed in large quantities for a longer period.
The Germans love to have their afternoon coffee with cake, called Kaffee & Kuchen, it is also a means to welcome guests, and spend time with family and friends. Historically, the Viennese coffee houses were often used by writers and intellectuals as places of meetings and contemplating and were central in shaping the culture of both, Austria and Germany. Coffee houses were so popular, that Johann Sebastian Bach even composed a mini-opera, called Coffee Cantata, which tells the story of a girl's addiction to coffee.
You can prepare low acid coffee from whichever coffee brand you like. The trick lies in brewing. It's the method of cold brewing that reduces the acid levels in the coffee by half. To prepare your own coffee, take a cup of coffee grounds in a bowl, add quarter cup water and gently stir the mixture till all the grounds are moist. Once all the grounds have dampened, add another 1 cup of water into the bowl. Do not disturb the contents in the bowl by shaking or mixing. Cover it with a lid and allow the contents to remain still for the next 12 hours. Strain this coffee twice through medium sieve and fine sieve. You can now prepare your hot or iced coffee with this extract.
