Caffeine is the main component of coffee. The average caffeine content varies as per the coffee type, and is as follows:
Experiments conducted on mice indicate that, those given water with coffee perform much better than those given only water, when tested for memory. It was found, that coffee helps counter the production of ABeta, thus helping in delaying Alzheimer's. An unidentified component of coffee (other than the main components, quinine and caffeine), is the reason for this. And research is on to find which component exactly is responsible. So, although this is seems like a contradiction of sorts, the deal is that, coffee helps us stay awake, but without aiding the build up of the protein ABeta. Coffee guards us against the harmful effects of this protein, by activating the detoxification pathways in our system.
Fact: This is a common myth that probably stems from the fact that coffee is a stimulant that keeps you awake because of its caffeine content. However, it takes a very short time for caffeine to be eliminated from your body. In fact, research has shown that more than 50% of it is released by the body within five hours of consumption. Hence, drinking not more than 2 to 3 cups a day won't cause any problems in your sleeping habits, unless, of course, you have a cup of coffee just before going to bed.
A lot of the success of coffee shops is dependent on the overall look, feel and mood of the place. The furnishing and interiors of your coffee shop, and how you have decorated the place, should all make up a harmonious picture, where your customer feels comfortable, relaxed, and welcomed. Make sure you have ample floor space. Do not cram too many tables in a small place. Customers do not want other people to even accidentally eavesdrop on their conversations! Finally (and this is the most important thing), keep your place clean. This includes the tables, chairs, serving and billing counters, displays, and most importantly, the washroom.
